SnapchAt Exclusive

Happy Pretty Little Liars Day, everyone!

For those of you who are unaware of the significance of today, basically it means that those of us who have patiently waited since 2010 to figure out who A is, are finally getting our answer.

However A Team theories are not what I wanted to talk about today. Instead, I'm talking about Snapchat and how it's being used by the top marketers in the business.

Because Snapchat can only be updated live (unlike almost every other social platform), Snapchat makes users feel like they're getting the behind the scenes, inside scoop of whatever brand they are following. This gives marketers a unique chance to engage with their viewers in a more personal way.

ABC has taken this to the next level with Pretty Little Liars, and has given PLL fans reviews of past episodes, plot hints and behind the scenes access of the stars of the show!

Take today for example...

I woke up this morning with a snap on the Pretty Little Liars Snapchat Story ready for me to watch. Their first snap was a simple, "Happy PLL Day!", reminding me that tonight was the night that the finale would be aired.

The rest of the snaps, which were posted later that day, were recaps from the last episode (and thank goodness they did that because I can never keep track of all those plot points...), an "it's starting!" snap, as well as live-snaps throughout the show.

By giving fans behind the scenes access, the digital marketers over at ABC have created a feeling of excitement and intrigue regarding the new episode. Fans were checking back on Snapchat to see the latest updates and to keep up to date with all the PLL news, becoming more and more engrossed in their brand

So what does this mean for someone who doesn't have a TV show?

There are so many brand-specific strategies that could be implemented with the help of Snapchat that can give your fans a behind the scenes look at what you do! All it takes is just a little out of the box thinking.

If you're really interested in how you could use Snapchat for your own brand or business, but are stuck when it comes to ideas, email me at micaylanicolebrewster@gmail.com and I'd love to consult you on some ideas that would be perfect for your audience and your brand.

If you're a brand that is already using Snapchat, leave a comment below to let us know what brilliant ideas you've come up with and how it's affected your audience's relatioship to your brand!

And if you're a PLL fan, follow me on Twitter @micaylabrewster! I'll be live-tweeting during the show!
