My World Turned Upside Down

In an unbelievably lucky string of events, I had the chance to intern at Marathon Digital this summer. It was one of the most challenging experiences of my life in the best sense of the word.

On a daily basis I was pushed to learn a new skill or refine other talents I had already been working on. There was not a single day that went by when I didn’t learn something new. I found myself constantly writing down quick tips shared with me in passing because they were so rich with wisdom.

As an outsider coming into the Broadway community, I gained so much respect for these performers who, I now know, are some of the most hardworking, talented people in the entire entertainment industry. I knew even less about these insanely creative people who work in offices off of Times Square and figure out every detail of the behind the scenes of the behind the scenes of these shows. I got a glimpse into the Broadway world that I never thought I would see.

Yes, some of the perks of working with a company that works so closely with Hamilton were insane (Like this, this, and this), but that’s not even what set this experience apart for me.

Marathon is different because it's full of dreamers. I can't even tell you how many times I was asked to share my wildest campaign ideas for various shows and then those dreams were taken seriously. The biggest learning curve was learning to rediscover wild creativity.

A simple Facebook message did more than just get me this insane opportunity. It taught me that the sky’s the limit when you’re willing to put yourself out there.

Marathon Digital is going places and I’m honored to have been along for the ride.
